For years I searched for my purpose like it was a plan set in stone somewhere, already written, just waiting for me to find it. The more I searched, the more stuck and hopeless I got, and still, I felt I had to be of service. Then I stopped searching, and it found me.
I was in a Conscious Connected Breathwork (CCB) session, part of my practice and training, a technique where you breathe continuously, without a pause between the inhale and the exhale. Held long enough, that rhythm can open doors for emotional release, insight, and a way of seeing that goes beyond ordinary awareness. That’s where I met Artemis.
Artemis is one of the most enduring and worshiped goddesses of the ancient world, also known as Potnia Theron or Diana among other names. She protects those she cares for: the forest, wild animals, pregnant people, children, the Amazon warriors… She’s been an inspiring archetype to me since I was a little girl.
My spirituality itself is recent, something breathwork helped me reconnect with and open up to. So meeting her there, mid-breath, was transformative. She showed me my own strength, my inner wisdom, my determination, the powers I already carried, and the journey I had lived to get there. It all made sense in a second. Then she asked me to offer those same gifts to others, through breathwork.
I didn’t question it. I said yes.
I created The Artemis Journey, CCB one to ones and group sessions, as part of my facilitator practicum. The preparation felt natural and driven, as if I already knew what to do. It felt like collecting pieces of myself and reliving my own journey. Even my voice changed.
The music, the words, my Artemis sculpture in my setup, a lion ring on my hand to hold the strength, my other hand on my heart, to keep my own pace steady while I held space for someone else’s.
For a journey built around a feminine archetype, my first breathers were men. It showed me not to guess who will be called or resonate with this journey.
Each session has taught me something about trust, theirs in me, mine in the process, all of it in something bigger than either. Witnessing their journeys, each one so unique and extraordinary, has been one of the greatest joys of holding this space.
I’ve had jobs, roles, titles, responsibilities. None of them touched this. There’s a difference between achieving something planned, and doing something you were called to do. I finally know that difference, and it’s the most purposeful I have ever felt.
Sometimes we just need to make space and breathe, trust the process, and have compassion for ourselves. I want to keep holding that space for others, so they can do the same.
